Henrietta

Henrietta is an alternative rock quartet who write distorted, downtrodden, auto-biographical tunes. Inspired by the experiential songwriting prowess of David Bazan (Pedro the Lion), Henrietta builds tracks with a vast dynamic range. From stripped down and somber to crunchy and bold, the four-piece mimics their inspirations in an amalgam of punk, alternative, and heavy rock.

Lead vocalist and lyricist Manny Urdaneta has a gravelly, whiskey-worn vocal texture; he sings through his teeth, sucking in huge breaths to ring choruses out over slow-churning breakdowns. Henrietta’s newest release, “The Trick is Not Minding” is a record in constant transition. It showcases Urdaneta’s vocal range, Colin Czerwinski’s quick and conniving guitar work and the band’s unified rhythmic presence. Often loud and fast-paced, the record breathes in placid instrumental breaks and relieves tensions with explosive open chord chugging. “The Trick is Not Minding” was released early this year as a re-imagined acoustic EP.
